قال إلياس نيكيتين، وهو روسي مسلم كانت وسائل الإعلام قد تداولت صورته على أنه المشتبه به الرئيس في تفجير مترو سان بطرسبورغ، إنه ذهب بنفسه إلى الشرطة لتبرئة ذمته.
وبرر إلياس استعجاله في اللجوء إلى الشرطة لتأكيد براءته مما نسب إليه بالقول إنه “ليس مسؤولا عن نفسه فقط بل عن أمة محمد أيضا”.
وأعرب الرجل عن شكره للاستخبارات الروسية والشرطة، مشيرا إلى أنهم عملوا بشكل جيد في هذا الظرف العصيب، وأنهم استمعوا إليه باهتمام وتفهم وقد أجاب عن جميع استفساراتهم، ثم غادر مدينة سان بطرسبورغ متوجها إلى موسكو.
